The Technical University of Ostrava offers study programs not only for Czech but also for foreign students. Several bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs are conducted in English, and the university is interested in students from various countries. The school’s website offers information for foreign applicants, but young people from abroad still contact the study department with many questions about study programs, applications, fees, accommodation options and other aspects of student life at this university. The questions are mainly addressed in English and even after they are answered, they move on to other follow-up questions and correspondence.
OUR SOLUTION
We have created a chatbot in English for the university, which is available to the public 24/7. Since some of the necessary information for the study is of a general nature and at the same time interested parties often ask about it, we chose a tree structure as the basis of the chatbot with a simple division into the most frequently asked areas. In this way, the interested party can access information quickly and easily.
We have added the possibility to ask your own question to the tree structure of the chatbot. This option is included in the chatbot right from the start, but also in each of the main topics – study program, admission process, fees, accommodation and the like. In this way, for each topic, the user can decide whether it is more convenient for him to choose from the default areas, or to formulate and ask his own question.
Well-trained artificial intelligence answers the questions of those interested in studying. The advantage of such a solution is the processing of an incomparably larger amount of materials and documents about the study. Artificial intelligence understands the questions asked and offers comprehensible answers based on current information.
RESULTS
Those interested in studying at the Technical University of Ostrava have a separate conversation with a chatbot that, thanks to artificial intelligence, can answer their questions in detail in any lesson. Interested parties contact the study department of the university only after providing all basic information, which leads to effective and targeted communication.
